Today’s technology brings many advantages – but it also spells danger, with disinformation becoming part of everyday life. How young people navigate this has profound and lasting consequences.

As an experienced broadcast journalist, I know more than most how disinformation and misinformation is now filling our digital world. How trusted sources are found and how facts are verified are now becoming essential parts of our modern day curriculum in schools and colleges.
I’ve designed a suite of training tools for the UK education sector, mainly aimed at post-16 audiences, but with the ability for content to be delivered in an age appropriate way for almost any group. Sessions can be tailored from one hour to full days.
Topics include :
- Sorting truth from fiction
- Responsible use of AI in creating and searching for content
- Basic journalism techniques – writing truthful, accurate and ethical stories
- An introduction to audio and video recording and editing
- Communication and interviewing skills
- Creative media practice – blogging, podcasts and videography
- Ethics and media regulation in the UK – the role of media outlets and regulators
- Media Law
- News writing for broadcast platforms
- News presentation
All of these can be aligned with your specific curriculum aims, and can be scaled up to Higher Education settings. I have a full current DBS Certificate and is fully trained in principles of safeguarding both children and adult learners.
Additionally, I have a range of classroom-ready resources, complete with detailed teaching and delivery notes on any of the above topics. This includes interactive exercises for students. Click the contact button to start your conversation.
